Transfer/Drop Gears Query??
Hi,
My Mini - Pre A + 4 Syncro remote(SC Gears) Straight Cut Tranfer/Drop Gears(SC 'Roller Bearing' Idler Gear) Idler bearings in geabox and case: 1) My idler gear is a straight cut roller bearing design. This idler was ordered specifically for the pre A+. The relevance if i am right, is that the size of the hole in the gearbox casing is smaller on the Pre A + boxes. However I have noticed that the shafts on either end of the new roller bearing idler gear are the same size as the holes on the gearbox case and end case when the bearings have been taken out. So is it correct that I dont use bearings in the gearbox case or end case?????????. I am sure I have been given the right idler bearing. If you have fitted a Roller Bearing Idler Gear before, it may be a bit of a 'Blonde Question' sorry!!, but its new to me!! 2) I am aware I will need to heat with water the case to get the bearing out, but does anyone know where I can buy or borrow BL service tool 18g 581 ?. 3) I would be keen to buy a Pre A+ remote box for rebuild if anyone has one? I am getting there! and would really appreciate a bit of advice, this time!!! |
