Oil warning light.
This is probs a silly questions, but underneath my speedometer, the red oil light sometime flickers when I'm driving. It's a recent thing...

Is there an issue with the oil pressure or is the oil low?

Check the oil A.S.A.P this could be very bad news it could be low oil pressure.

What grade of oil have you been using?

RE: Oil warning light.
Not sure about grade, but I think it was a pretty good Shell performance oil. Nothing cheap. It hasn't been topped up for a while - is this why?

Can I use a different type of oil, mix it with what's there?

mixing the oils will be fine,as long as they are the same grade.

That's the thing, I'm not sure about which grade is currently in my car. I don't think I have no other choice but to buy more oil and just put it in really.

RE: Oil warning light.
Well you do have a choice, especially if it's been a while, (remember you should change the oil annually).

Change the oil and put 20w50 mineral oil in!
